2012 Highlights


Annual General Meeting: We thank the following individuals who retired from the board of directors for their years of service:

  • Mark Hilton  (2003 to 2010)
  • Steve Vanderwater  (2009 to 2010)
  • Mike Lutomsky  of Jay-Vee Industries (2011)

We were very fortunate to have the following individuals let their names stand for board of directors.

  • Dan St. Germain - Hi-Tech Seals Inc.
  • Ed Winter - National Trailer Mfg. Ltd.
  • Randy Keppler - Meyers Norris Penny LLP
  • Darrell Spencer - Commercial Solutions Inc.
  • Mike Kittlitz - Plainsman Manufacturing Inc.

Dan St. Germain, Ed Winter, Darrell Spencer and Mike Kittlitz were elected to the board.  We thank Mark Curtis and Randy Keppler for their interest in running for the board and hope that they will consider running again in the future.

Glenn Morris of T3 Energy Services was the big winner of the social part of the function.  Other winners were:

29th Annual Crib Tournament: 78 teams participated in the March 8th tournament.  Clarence Hupka of City of Edmonton and Brian Grandish of NOV were the big winners.

Greg Hamilton of MNP LLP won the 50/50 draw, the Door prizes were won by:

  • Scott Slaney
  • Terry Topolniski
  • Mark Chan of Wrapex Industrial Services
  • Rui Pacheco of Servco Oilfield Supply Canada Ltd.
  • Nathan Ostifichuk  of ReAction Oilfield Supply Ltd.

7th Biennial Annual Silent Auction and Seafood Extravaganza: Approximately 200 people attended the May 11th event which was catered by Elizabethan Catering Services Ltd.   We thank all the donors of the auction items and the purchaser of the items for making this event a success - almost $12,000 was raised.

Park Cleanup: The following showed up on May 12th to help clean clean-up our facility:

Memorial Golf Tournament: Daniel Zimmer and Dymtro Petruk were remembered by the 116 individuals that participated in the May 16th tournament held at the Jagare Ridge Golf Course.  The supper, after the tournament at the OTS Park, was prepared by Zambelli's.

Annual Family Picnic: As usual, we had great weather on May 27th, consequently, over 150 people came out for the picnic.  The kids enjoyed the three jumpy things, the face painter and balloon animal maker.

Mystery Golf Tournament: On June 28th we bussed 54 golfers to the Alberta Springs Golf Resort just outside of Red Deer.  After being short tailgate party beside the driving range, everyone enjoyed great round of golf, followed by a steak supper before heading back to the OTS Park.

42nd Annual Golf Tournament: With the August 15th and 16th tournament being moved to the Northern Bear Golf Club, we changed the format to a shotgun start on both days.

A Calcutta was held the evening before.  Myles Yeager & Monica Wood were the big winners of the,  Other winners included Jeff Breitkreutz, Jacques Rochefort, Timothy Reynar & Rob Boyne

A Million Dollar ($1,000,000) Hole-in-One shoot out was held on the 18th hole at the completion of the tournament.  25 individual had a shot winning the $1,000,000, unfortunately no one won.

Technical Meeting: On September 13th, MNP LLP provided a presentation on how to "Exit Your Business the SMART Way"

NHL Draft Night: Due to the hockey strike, the September 27th NHL Draft Night became a NFL Draft Night.

Technical Meeting: On November 15th,  Hi-Tech Seals Inc. did a presentation on Polymers focusing on Elastomers (history / chemistry / properties / materials)

NFL Thanksgiving Day (Turkey Day) Football: Although the attendance was low, a good time was had by all that attended the November 22nd event.

Christmas Party: A great time was had by the 130 individuals that attended our small companies Christmas party on December 8th.
