Built in 1954 by B&W Inc., Los Angeles, California, this unit was purchased by Amoco Canada Petroleum Company Ltd. and was the first of its kind used in Canada.

A technique was developed whereby gravel is placed behind a wellbore screen to filter sand from the oil.
