2008 Highlights
- 88 teams participanted in the 25Th Annual Crib Tournament. The big wiiners were Ken Hayduk and

2008 Crib Tournament
We were graced with the presence of the following 4 individuals who played in the 1st Annual Crib Tournament

- The Annual General Meeting / Election was held on January 10. A big
thank you to Alta-Fab Structures Ltd., Hi-Tech Seals Inc., and
Reliance Industrial Products Ltd. for sponsoring the social part of our
meeting.
We thank the following Barry Moore of Decarson Rentals who retired from the board of directors
for his years of service (2000 to 2007)
We were very fortunate to have the following 6 individuals let their names
stand for board of directors.

Kelly Collison, Shane Lindsay and Candice Villard were
elected to the board. We would like to thank Tom Fisher, Sharon Martin and Derrick Zimmer

2007 Highlights
- The Oilfield Technical Society hosted 3 Hockey Nights at the Park -
November 28, December 14 & February 20, 2007 this winter at the OTS Hall.
This was a new opportunity to utilize the facility, socialize with existing
members, and give the facility more visibility to all others.
- Annual General Meeting / Election was held on January 11. A big
thank you to Alta-Fab Structures Ltd., Hi-Tech Seals Inc., and
Reliance Industrial Products Ltd. for sponsoring the social part of our
meeting.
We thank the following 3 individuals who retired from the board of directors
for their years of service :
- Stan Kondratiuk (1977 to 2006)
- Paul Wilson (1999 to 2006) of T3-Oilco Energy Services
- Georg Eger (2003 to 2006) of Reliance Hydraulic Systems & Mechanical

Craig Ferguson, Mathew Rolfes, Mel Davis and Steve Vanderwater were
elected to the board. We would like to thank Adam Cayer, Dave Lewis, Kevin
King and Pat Matthews for their interest in running for the board and hope
that they will consider running again in the future.
- Annual OTS Children's Picnic - We were blessed with great weather for
the picnic on June 3. Over 100 children and parents had a great day of fun &
laughter and of course food. The new playground that was installed on the
prior weekend was a hit with all the kids. The day was packed with face
painting, balloon animal art and games.
- Tent Party / Bar-B-Que Blowout - We had over 2,700 people attend this
year’s party. $13,500 was raised from the gate receipts for the
Children's Wish Foundation. An additional $500 was donated to the Children's
Random attendees voted the Southwest Oilfield Products (Alberta) Ltd. booth
as having the Best Theme and the Best Food. PowerComm Inc. came in 2nd
and DRS/Rig Products Inc. 3rd in theme. While MD Totco NOV was 2nd in
food and Reliance Industrial Products Ltd.3rd the best food
The Edmonton OTS Executive thank the Tent Participants for making our 5th
Bi-Annual Tent Party / Bar-B-Que Blowout a great success. The participants
did a phenomenal job
- 2007 Golf Tournament - We had 247 people enter our 37th Annual Golf
Tournament. Unfortunately we could only accommodate 216 individuals in
the tournament. The Windermere Golf course was in great shape and we
were fortunate to have two of the nicest days in August. Please check out

Some of the big winners were:
- $8,000 was raised for the CNIB - check out the Edmonton Journal press
release.
- RBC Dominion Securities donated $1,000 and raised another $830 with
the raffle at the 3rd hole for the for the Children's Wish Foundation.
- Scott Toshack won the Titleist Club raffle on Thursday
- Janet Little won the King Cobra Club raffle on Friday
- Monica Woods won the Thursday Night Skill competition at the Park.
- Clarence Muzechka, Michael Chyzowski and Gordon Trefananko were the
early bird draw winners
Rick Kautz was honoured for his past contributions at the Golf Banquet.

- Fall Classic (Casino Night), which was held on September 28 was good
a good time with great food. The winners of our Casino Draw were:
- Tina Atkins - $250.00
- Bev Rolfes - $500.00
- Kirsten Affleck - $1,000.00
The winner of the 50 inch Plasma Panasonic TV Raffle was Mike Noade of Ensign
Drilling
- Fall Technical Meeting. Over 150 people attended the November 15 presentation
given by, Paul Shaw of Halliburton - Sperry Drilling Services. The presentation
was designed to provide the average individual an insight to the aspects of Drilling.
The administrative and support staff that attended found it very informative.
2006 Highlights
- Approximately 200 individuals were treated to excellent food and a fun
night at the Annual General Meeting at the OTS Park on January 12. A big
thank you to our sponsors Alta-Fab Structures Ltd., Hi-Tech Seals
Inc. and Reliance Industrial Products Ltd.
- The 23 Annual Crib Tournament was held on March 9 was a success. In order
to give people more playing time, a fourth event was created. A list of the
winners can be found under Crib Tournament in the events sections.
- The Park Opening - Seafood Extravaganza & Silent Auction was held on May
13. The event was sold out again. Almost $35,000 was raised. A big thank
you to all those that donated items for the auction. An auction cannot be
successful with people bidding on the auction items, thank you for your
generosity in your bids. Please check out the successful bidders and
sponsors.
- We had great weather for the Annual OTS Children's Picnic on June 4. Over
100 children and parents had a great day of fun & laughter and of course
food. The day was packed with face painting, balloon animal art and
games.
- The 36th Annual Golf Tournament was reminiscent of a homecoming. After a
three-year absence due to renovations on the course, we were back at the
Windermere Golf and Country Club for our annual tournament. With the weather
cooperating everyone enjoyed being back at the new and improved Windermere.

- At the request of the membership, we brought back the Old-Time Turkey
Shoot, which was held at the OTS park on Friday, September 30. A majority of
the 250 people that attended had a successful turkey shoot. Over 100 turkeys
were won.
2005 Highlights
- As usual, our Annual General Meeting / Election Night on
January 13 was a great success. We thank the following 4

- Julie Ridsdale of Ensign Drilling Inc. and Craig Beggs of
Reliance Industrial products Ltd were the big winners at our 22nd
Annual Crib Tournament held on March 3rd. The Executive
passes along a THANK YOU to all of the individuals who took
played in tournament. We especially extend a huge THANK YOU
to the flight sponsors - Columbia Oilfield Supply Ltd., Topco
Oilsite Products Ltd. and Capital Oilfield Equipment
Inc. The crib boards were once again supplied by Ja-Co
Welding & Consulting Ltd. and Fab-U-Tech Industries
Inc. The playing cards were supplied by Premium Oilfield
Inspection Services Ltd. and Holmans' Hauling Inc.
Plastice cups were once again supplied by Hi-Tech Seals
Inc.
The board appreciates Communications 2000 Inc. for
having 3 of their employees bartender for the evening and the
Desk & Derrick Club of Edmonton for providing the 2
cashiers.
- We were fortunate to have great weather for the Annual OTS Children's
Picnic on June 05. The kids had a great day of fun & laughter and of course
food. The day was packed with face painting, balloon balloon animal art and
games.
- Being blessed with great weather, we had over 2,500 people attend our 4th
Bi-annual Tent Party / Bar-B-Que Blowout. $12,500 was raised from the gate
receipts for the Chidren's Wish Foundation. The Edmonton OTS Executive thanks
the Tent Participants for making our 4th Bi-Annual Tent Party / Bar-B-Que
Blowout a great success. The participants did phenomenal job. We also thank
Southgate Pontiac Buick GMC Ltd. and their staff for donating their vehicles
and time in providing the shuttle service from the parking lot to park.
- Despite the miserable weather on August 18, the 35th
Annual Golf Tournament which was held at the Coloniale Golf &
Country Club was a success. To check out this year's generous

Bob Lee was honoured for his past contributions at the Golf
Banquet.
- The Park Closing Wind-up, which was held on September
30th at the OTS Park featured 3 comedians from The Comedy
Factory. As usual, everyone enjoyed themselves.
- At the November 2rd Technical Meeting, Mr. Harry Zuzak,
the Past President of the Royal Canadian Golf Association
presented a 90 minute session on the Rules of Golf.
2004 Highlights
- In order that we could provide better catering services at our Park, we
have partnered with PTI Premium Banquet Services and added a first class
catering kitchen to the hall. The hall is now available year round.
- The highlights of the Annual General Meeting were:
- The approval of the Replacement Objects and Bylaws.
- The introduction of Gil Bourgeois, our 2004 President
- The roasting of our 2003 President, Jim Needham
- 98 teams participated at our 21st Annual Crib Tournament which was held
on March 11. We would like to thank Capital Oilfield Equipment Inc.,
Columbia Oilfield Supply Ltd. and Topco Oilsite Products Ltd. for
being the event sponsors. Robert Wall & Chad Whitworth from Global Service Rig
were the big winners. You can check out the other winners under Crib

- The Park Opening - Seafood Extravaganza and Silent Auction which
was held on May 14 was a great success. The OTS Board would like to thank all
the Silent Auction Donors for their generous donations.
- The 34th Annual Golf Tournament which was held at the Coloniale Golf &
Country Club on August 19 & 20.
Laurence (Larry) MacLean, the OTS treasurer from 1970 to 1994, was
honoured for his past contributions at the Golf Banquet.
- The Park Closing Wind-up held on October 1 was another OTS sucess.
114 turkeys were won at the various games held during the night.
2003 Highlights
- $9,124.80 was raised for the Children's Wish Foundation at the Bi-Annual
BBQ Blow-out. The Tent Participants did a phenomenal job. The costumes, tent
presentations, and food were great.
- We had great weather for the 33rd Annual Golf Tournament which was held
at the Coloniale Golf & Country Club. A persistent Ray Tweed took
home all the money from the closest to the pin competition which was held at
the OTS Park on Thursday night.
- A good time was had by everyone that was fortunate to get a ticket to the
sold out Park Closing.
